Description
Teams of three students will work to categorize science terms and concepts by category or common characteristic.

Up to 3 / 40 minutes
The Competition
In each round, teams will relate science terms or concepts with common physical or chemical properties or other common categories or characteristics for such terms or concepts. Team members work together completing each part on a single answer sheet for the team.
Round I
Teams will be given a group of three descriptive properties or characteristics and will seelct from a given list a science term or concept that best fits the given group of characteristics.
(Example I) Geometry, Shape, Six > Hexagon
Round II
Teams will be given a group of three science terms and will select from a list the property, characteristic, or category that best represents the given group of terms.
(Example II) Rain, Snow, Sleet > Precipitation
Round III
Teams will be given a group of three descriptive properties or characteristics and will supply three science terms or concepts that fit the given group of characteristics.
(Example III) Planet, Larger Than Earth, Has Moons > Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus [Neptune also acceptable]
Timing
Each round is completed separately. Rounds I and II will be completed in 8-minute periods. Teams will be allotted 12 minutes to complete round III.
Scoring
Teams will receive 1 point for each correct answer. Ties are broken by the number of correct responses in round III. Time is not a scoring factor.
