ESO 2023 Final Facts
Announcing the 2023 Team Winners
Kitty Stone Elementary (Jacksonville) earned medals in 12 of 22 events enroute to the overall team title in the 2023 Elementary Science Olympiad at Jacksonville High School on Saturday, February 25th. Trussville schools took the next two places with Paine Elementary in second and Cahaba Elementary in third. Clanton Intermediate (Clanton), which led all teams with 4 first-place event finishes, was fourth in the overall team standings.

The Big Individual Winners
Three students medaled in 3 events at ESO 2023 at Jacksonville High School -- Bella Martinez from Kermit Johnson Elementary, Shaun McGrath of Valley Creek, and Reese Underwood from Kitty Stone Elementary. For the first time in recent memory, no students won more than one gold medal across the 22 events of the JHS Olympiad.

Celebrating 29 Years of ESO at JHS
Jacksonville High School celebrated its 29th year of hosting Elementary Science Olympiad competition with 19 schools in attendance. ESO at JHS has maintained its impressive impact on science education in Alabama. Over 300 students participated in events in 2023 including students from the Academy of Science and Foreigh Language, Auburn Area Homeschools, Bagley, Cahaba, Clanton, Gardendale, Greenwood, Hueytown, Jefferson Christian, Kermit Johnson, Kitty Stone, Magnolia, Margaret, Mill Creek, Oak Grove, Paine, Pleasant Grove, Valley Creek, and W.O. Lance. Thanks for helping make ESO 2023 yet another success!
